Realtor.com counted 352 Hawaii County listings with price reductions in August 2026, 10.0% more than a year earlier. The price-reduced share nevertheless eased from 18.31% to 17.72%.
The count and share moved differently because the active listing population also expanded. This is why a raw reduction count should not be read without its denominator.

Counts and shares can point in different directions
The number of reductions rose because 352 listings were reduced, but the share eased because the broader listing population grew. The share is the better normalized comparison when the active pool changes materially.
What price reductions do not prove
A reduction does not reveal the home’s original pricing rationale, condition, seller motivation, concessions or eventual sale price. Countywide frequency cannot prescribe a reduction for a particular seller.
Method and limits
KE Team Hawaii selected matched August rows for Hawaii County from Realtor.com’s historical file. All six rows have quality flag zero. The report preserves the provider’s count and share rather than deriving an alternate denominator.
