From Kona to Tokyo: Shohei Ohtani, Baseball & Big Island Real Estate

From Kona to Tokyo:  Baseball & Big Island Real Estate

I’ve returned to Japan again for business, but let’s be honest, this is a fun one.  Shohei Ohtani is a baseball superstar and cultural phenomenon. He’s also a three-time MVP, Home Run King, a pitcher, and a sure future-Hall-of-Famer. In Japan, you can’t go a day without seeing him on TV or the street. He’s everywhere—on billboards, in commercials, and news.

This Dodgers vs. Cubs season opener is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated games in Japanese baseball history. Tickets are impossible to get, but as a lucky soul, I will be watching the game behind the third dugout today at Tokyo Dome. If you’re a baseball junkie, you’ll know how excited I am! For me, this experience comes full circle. When I was younger, I had the honor of being the personal translator for the late Don Drysdale, the legendary Dodgers pitcher. I am certain Don is smiling down.

Did You Know About Shohei Ohtani’s Big Island Retreat?

What many people don’t realize is that Shohei Ohtani has chosen the Big Island as his off-season home. He’s building a private compound in Mauna Kea Resort, complete with a training facility to prepare for future seasons.

Recently, we helped our client purchase a lot next to Shohei’s for $7.5M. Vista Mauna Kea consists of 14 exclusive lots, with 7 already sold.  That’s big news for Hawaii and baseball fans!

For someone at the absolute peak of sports and fame, he is remarkably kind, grounded, and genuine. A once-in-a-generation athlete, yet zero ego, just a love for the game.

Want to Be Shohei Ohtani’s Neighbor?

If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a luxury property in Mauna Kea Resort, now is the time. There are still a few lots available in the exclusive subdivision where Shohei Ohtani is building his off-season home.
